Farmington, MO- Republican State Senator from the 3rd District, Kevin Engler, is announcing his support for Sarah Steelman in the Republican primary to take on Claire McCaskill.

“Sarah Steelman has a record of fiscal responsibility and the political courage we need in D.C. to follow through with her objectives. She’s the fighter we need in our United States Senate.” Sen. Engler continued, “The deciding factor that sent me to the Steelman camp was Mr. Brunner’s recent attack ad distorting the truth about our responsible state government while hiding his own business record. The last thing we need in D.C. is another person who says one thing and does another.”

On June 9, 2012 Senator Engler sent a letter to his colleagues in the Missouri Legislature articulating his frustration with Mr. Brunner and his campaign staff for their misrepresentation of Missouri’s budgeting process, while failing to explain Mr. Brunner’s own record of borrowing.

Steelman is encouraged by the support she is receiving, as Engler is the 52nd State Legislator to endorse her bid for United States Senate.

“I am very excited to receive this support from Senator Engler. He is a man who understands fiscal responsibility, and also understands Missouri. To have his support behind my campaign means I’m doing more than just a few things right.”

Steelman concluded, “I cannot express my gratitude enough for these public servants who have offered their support of my campaign. These are men and women who want to see our federal government behave more like our show-me state, with a balanced budget and secure credit rating, not the other way around. I’m going to go to D.C. to get that done.”
